Recommended Piano Courses and Piano Software
While I have provided enough material for you to begin learning to play the piano, the piano courses and piano software you will read about on this page will continue where my lessons end. If you have reviewed the lessons provided throughout our site, you now have the basics for chord and scale structure, note identification on the treble and bass staff, simple progressions, and basic theory (modes, arpeggios, etc.).
The information I've provided, along with additional piano lessons I'll be adding in the future, will give you an excellent start to playing the piano. However, if you want to "expand" your knowledge beyond the beginner level and learn about melodies, arrangements, ear training, piano riffs and runs, and more...you need to check out the info about the recommended piano courses and piano software below. If you have been diligent in learning the material on free-online-piano-lessons.com, you’re now ready for the "next step". Go on and become the best piano player you can be...and keep practicing!
Hearandplay.com
>>>When I began searching for piano and other music related sites a few years ago for research in building free-online-piano-lessons.com, one site that always kept coming up was hearandplay.com. The site belongs to Jermaine Griggs and he began years ago selling one piano course that he developed. Since that time Mr. Griggs has developed several piano courses geared for every type of piano player…from beginner to advanced and everything in-between. Mr. Griggs specialty is teaching you to learn to play the piano by ear. All of his piano courses are predicated upon learning to play by ear and training your ear to “hear” the chords, progressions, etc. that are being played. This is a “natural” progression from the basic theory, chords, progressions, etc. you have learned from my site. While some of the information in his courses will cover items you may already know from studying the lessons on free-online-piano-lessons.com, his piano courses will go deeper into theory while teaching you advanced chords, melodies, progressions and of course, teaching you to play by ear. The piano courses Mr. Griggs offers cover gospel, blues, jazz, etc. Check out this link,

MusicStudy.com
>>>If you go to the Piano Notes section of this site you will see a link to download a neat piano software tool called "Note ID". This tool was developed by Kba software. Those of you who have used it know how helpful it is in learning note identification on sheet music for the piano. If you click the Musicstudy link and visit their home page, you will see a list of the piano software products available from Kba software. They include Spell ID, Rhythm ID, Pitch ID, and Chord ID. These products are available individually or as a package (Kba Complete). Musicstudy.com provided me with a copy of Kba complete so I could check out the quality of this piano software. I was impressed with Note ID (I have it as a free download on my site) so I agreed to accept a copy for evaluation. I WILL NOT recommend anything to my site visitors that I would not use myself, especially if it cost money. In my opinion, all of the piano learning software items I tried, and I tried them all, were of the highest quality and would be beneficial to anyone wanting to learn how to identify chord progressions (chord ID), pitch and interval combinations for scales and chords (pitch ID), different beat and rhythm combinations (rhythm ID), and correct spelling for scales, chords, and intervals (spell ID). Click on the link,
